Applications Now Open: Become a STAND Global Issues Course Coordinator

STAND is looking for student volunteers to help coordinate our autumn 2026 Global Issues courses. We're recruiting Student Volunteer Course Coordinators for two courses this season:

  • Global Issues @ UCD (UCD students only) — Tuesdays, 29 September to 3 November, 6:30–8:30pm
  • Global Issues @ TU Dublin (TU Dublin students only) — Wednesdays, 7 October to 4 November, 6:30–8:30pm

This season's theme is peace and reconciliation, exploring the question "How Can We Live Together?" Each of the six weekly sessions looks at this question through a different lens, led by an expert, researcher, or activist working in that field.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Course Coordinator, you'll be the glue that holds each session together — working closely with our Education and Research Manager and that week's facilitator to make sure everything runs smoothly. Day-to-day, that means:

  • Liaising with the Education and Research Manager and facilitators ahead of each session
  • Helping spread the word through social media posts and on-campus postering
  • Sourcing a suitable room on campus for in-person sessions
  • Welcoming participants, introducing facilitators, and closing out each session
  • Providing basic tech support (projector, laptop, etc.)
  • Being the go-to contact for participants' questions throughout the course

There's also room to go further if you're interested, with optional opportunities to take over STAND's social media for a session or write for STAND News on Global Issues themes.

What You'll Get Out of It

Beyond the experience of co-hosting interactive workshops and building your network with expert facilitators, coordinators get to take part in the course for free (usually €25). You'll also receive an online induction and briefing before the course begins.

Time Commitment

This is a voluntary role. Alongside attending each 2-hour session, expect around one hour a week for reporting back to the Education and Research Manager and following up on anything that comes up.
