Today marks the one year anniversary of the factory disaster at Rana Plaza in Bangladesh. 1,138 people who were making our clothes died and over 2,000 people were injured when the factory collapsed. One year later, and the victims of the Rana Plaza disaster and their families are still waiting for compensation.

To mark the occasion the Clean Clothes Campaign have an installation on Grafton Street, with a flag to represent each life lost in the disaster and a petition calling on brands to pay compensation to the Rana Plaza Arrangement Trust. So far the trust has received 1/3 of what it needs to compensate families properly and only half the brands sourcing from Rana Plaza have contributed.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on the disaster. Did it have an impact on you and how you think about clothes? Should brands pay compensation for the disaster? What do you think needs to change to improve conditions in the garment industry?
