STAND mobilises third-level students to stand up for global justice, equality and sustainability. As strategic partner to Irish Aid we work to embed Global Citizenship Education across the higher education sector in Ireland.

Our Mission: To engage third-level students from Ireland and across the globe through collaborative learning and activism to contribute to bringing about the systems changes needed for a just, equitable and sustainable world.
In this time of escalating global crises - from climate breakdown and armed conflict to rising authoritarianism and deepening inequality – we believe that the need for critical global citizenship education has taken on a particular urgency.
Higher education plays a vital role in equipping students with the skills, awareness, and motivation to respond to global challenges. STAND works with stakeholders from across disciplines and departments across higher education institutions in Ireland to embed critical GCE.
Across higher education campuses, we offer accessible co-curricular and extracurricular programmes and events, we collaborate with institutions to integrate Global Citizenship Education into teaching and campus life and support students' unions and societies to lead on global issues. We are delighted to be Irish Aid’s strategic partner for providing GCE in the higher education sector, contributing to implementing their global citizenship education strategy. We also receive funding from partners such as Concern Worldwide, Community Foundation, the Arts Council and Erasmus Plus.
Irish Aid Centre
In addition, we currently hold a contract with the Department of Foreign Affairs whereby we provide staff to assist with the delivery of the Irish Aid public awareness programme via the Irish Aid Centre.
The highly qualified team consists of a coordinator and facilitators that work directly in the Irish Aid Centre, delivering Irish Aid awareness raising workshops to schools and other communities.
