Even when abortion appears accessible on a surface level, unnecessary obstacles can force people into a situation in which abortion is no longer an option. This includes mandatory counselling and waiting periods, lack of access to information and to telemedicine.
Days like International Women’s Day also allow us to reflect on the opportunities for change that have been afforded by the complete overhaul of our day-to-day lives. The Department of Justice recently announced a Bill to outlaw the grooming of children. The Bill will create new criminal offences in this area of law, which will result in up to five years in prison if convicted.
